Electro Mechanical Engineering Technician

 Position Description
Assembles and tests Diesel, rotary experimental engine and electronic control systems (including printed circuit boards), data acquisition systems , and other electrical equipment and components. “Tweaks” parts machined by a subcontractor or machines simple parts using mill or lathe equipment. Builds electrical interfaces between data acquisition systems and engine sensors; interfaces prototype with computer. Diagnoses cause of mechanical or electrical malfunction or failure of operational equipment. Assists in part design, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion, and performs routine installation and maintenance duties. Plans, directs, and records systematic mechanical/electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.

 Requirements
Qualifications:
• AS in Mechanical (Electrical/Electronics) Engineering / Technology or equivalent from a two year college or technical school plus a minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical/electrical/electronic technology work.
• Certification or license is a plus.
• Thorough understanding of engine operation
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, fixing, modifying or developing Diesel or other engines is a big plus.
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in Central Connecticut.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.

Desired Skills:
• Apply theory and principles of electro-mechanical engineering to modify, develop, and test internal combustion engine machinery and equipment under direction of engineering staff or physical scientists.
• Basic machining skills (milling and lathe), good mechanical ability
• Basic wiring skills (soldering and crimping), experience with basic electrical components, ability to read and interpret schematics, good troubleshooting skills,
• Good communication skills, computer experience, Internet, etc. is a plus
• Familiarity with CAD is a plus.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
• Must be able and willing to work (in emergency) weekend or after hours
• Excellent work ethics and ability to work well in team environment.

Compensation commensurate with experience within $16.00-$26.50/hr range.
