| Senior Mechanical Engineer Intellectual Challenge. Dirty Fingernails. Venture Capital backed internal combustion engine startup seeks Senior Mechanical engineer to join a team determined to change the world. Lousy (well, may be just barely adequate) pay and skimpy benefits are offset by generous stock options, offering the chance to earn significant personal wealth. If you’re looking for the challenge of a lifetime and are not afraid of risk and hard work, we want to talk to you. Senior Mechanical Engineer Position Description As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work side-by-side with the company founder and CTO executing a recently funded seed-stage R&D program aimed at bringing a breakthrough rotary diesel engine design to life. The candidate will be more broadly responsible for providing vision to the company in the execution of its technology roadmap, serving as the nucleus of a growing engineering team when the company ramps toward production. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will: • Identify key technical issues and focus resources to implement cutting-edge technical breakthroughs in low emissions rotary engine technologies. • Plan experiments and analysis to demonstrate these technologies under realistic conditions. • Guide and conduct experiments that quantify the benefits of new technology. • Document results through patent applications, technical reports and publications. • Participate in the hands-on construction of a working prototype. • Work with the CTO to communicate these results to follow-on investors. Requirements Qualifications: • Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum 8 years experience OR Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum 10 years experience, including design and analysis of advanced diesel engine technologies. • Demonstrated project leadership experience, including a successful track of completing deliverables on schedule and on budget working with small teams. • Proven record of innovation in combustion engines (e.g. high-performance, low emission diesel engines.) • In-depth knowledge of rotary and piston engines with a solid mix of theoretical and practical experience. • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Central Connecticut. Desired Skills: • Specific experience with CFD – CosmosFlow preferable. • Experience with engine analysis codes (GT-Power, KIVA, etc). • Specific experience with CAD – Solid Works preferable. • Specific experience with FEA – CosmosDesigner preferable. • Specific experience with advanced rotary and piston engine technologies (exhaust gas recirculation, Miller cycle and HCCI, etc). • Superb communication and proposal writing skills. • Excellent work ethics and ability to work well in a small team environment. LiquidPiston, Inc. is an MIT incubated R&D company poised to transform ten years of breakthrough thermodynamics research into the world’s most efficient rotary engine. With a fundamental design that scales from lawnmowers, to locomotives, LiquidPiston has the potential to add fifty years to the life of the internal combustion engine industry in a resource-constrained world. Additional information is available at www.liquidpiston.com, though technology demonstrated there is two generation too old. The website will not be updated until additional patent protection is secured. If interested, please, send your CV to - apply below - | |
